can I want it ?
2005 ODC Theater / 2004 Dance Mission Theater

"Lisa Townsend's can i want it? was the kind of piece for which West Wave is designed: a work by young choreographers that has you excitedly awaiting what they do next."
Rita Feliciano, The SF Guardian, 2005

"Lisa Townsend’s choreography always embodies structure, originality, and freshness, and can iwant it? is no exception. With music composed by Piro Patton, the six dancers moved with speed, purpose, and agility, and Townsend’s sense of choreographic maturity was the highlight of the night."
Becca Hirschman, Critical dance.com, 2005

Performers explore the psychological and physical nature of desire and restraint. Set to an original sound score created by Jazz Bassist / Vibraphonist Piro Patton and Guitarist Christian Konopka, the choreography is rich in physical metaphor and expresses an emotional narrative.
